Kobe University International Residence

The Kobe University International Residence, located on Port Island, was built in March 1981 as a residence hall for international students and researchers. In March 1986, a new annex was built. In March 2014, both buildings were totally renovated. Fourteen single units, four couple units, and two family units are available for Kobe University Visiting Research Fellows.

Kobe University International House

The Kobe University International House is located in Fukae, and was built in 2000 as a residence hall for international students and researchers. It is situated next to Hakuo Dormitory. Two single units are available for Kobe University Visiting Research Fellows.

Rent Subsidy Program

Kobe University has a rent subsidy system for eligible international researchers who agree to live in one of the public-run apartment designated by the University in the event there is no room available in either the International  Residence or International House. Under this system, the University will pay a certain amount (with a maximum limit of 40,000 yen) of the monthly rent. Residents themselves must pay utilities and other fees.
